Annotated Resource - Collaborating For Productivity Through Wiggio
Doody, C., Matthews, S., Jones, B., Britzius, B., & Simmonsia, D. (2010). Collaborating for productivity through Wiggio (C. C. o. Business, Trans.). Kennesaw, Georgia: Kennesaw State University.
The authors, students of the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University, conducted an analysis of a software collaboration tool and prepared a report for the professor as part of an assignment. The purpose of this report was to determine the feasibility of Wiggio in a small to midsize business environment using a criterion which included exposing students to emerging technologies, increasing student knowledge of working within an organized team, gaining experience with collaboration tools, improve student research skills, and provide opportunity to utilize professional communication skills. The authors recommend the tool for virtual team environments based on the following topics: (a) content management, (b) workflow, and (c) communication types.
The authors presented pros and cons pertaining to virtual team structures and make recommendations for successful group management with Wiggio as the collaboration tool. The method of analysis is limited due to the fact that empirical analysis was conducted by the authors themselves and not on a large scale involving other users. Still, the report yields a useful review of Wiggio’s features. The report is recent, the information is thorough and the authors list both positive and negative features of the online collaboration tool.
